Sharing Our Wisdom and Heritage

September 9, 2006

Scott Spencer, PCA Librarian, points us to Grandparents Day 2006: Sept. 10

“Grandparents Day was the brainchild of Marian McQuade of Fayette County, W.Va., who hoped that such an observance might persuade grandchildren to tap the wisdom and heritage of their grandparents.”

Spencer’s link to U.S. Census Bureau FACT SHEET leads us to some truly important statistics as well.

I propose that we grandparents reverse that intent and take this day as an opportunity to share our wisdom and heritage so that we may be worthy of the observance that Ms. McQuade initiated.

Sit and wait for a Grandparents Day card?  Not me.  I want to mark this day in a special way by creating permanent memories for my grandbabies!
