Leaders in Libraries

October 17, 2006

new products to new users

Originally uploaded by circulating. What is your purpose? What is your promise? These were important questions trainer David Bendekovic put to directors, managers and trustees during the Leaders in Libraries: What the Best Do! workshop presented by Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives at Louisville Free Public Library on Monday.

He charged us to see the future and work back in order to create a strategic plan, asserted the importance of core values, and advised us to groom people as good managers and strong leaders. We were reminded to ask how the customer is doing and then listen more than we talk.

Are your library services always “new and improved” or are your products shelf-weary and useful only to a past world?

Check out more photos on flickr and see for yourself how more than 400 libraries have learned to lead with David B!
